Fox Therapy Center to Receive Designation as Certified Autism Center
Fox Therapy Center PLLC has undergone training to earn its certification of Autism care from the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). This designation means that at least 80% of the Fox Therapy staff have undergoing a rigorous training process that will assist in providing speech pathology, and occupational therapy services for those who have Autism.
“The team at Fox Therapy Center, PLLC is looking forward to becoming a Certified Autism Center (CAC).," said Stacie Fox, MS CCC-SLP. "As a team, we understand the importance of the increase in the number and need of the autistic population and are compelled to make sure we are all competent in serving them! We are grateful for this opportunity from IBCCES as it allows for our site to fulfill our professional and personal mission to always demonstrate competency and continued growth in our skills. Being a CAC allows for our patients to continue to have confidence and pride in knowing that they are receiving services from a caring team who are committed to helping our patients meet their personal milestones.”
Fox Therapy Center is the first organization in Virginia to undergo this training for its staff and earn the designation of the Certified Autism Center through IBCCES.
“I strongly believe that creating professional partnerships that help care for those with Autism and other sensory processing disorders improves the quality of care,” said Michelle Killian, Director of IBCCES. “Disparities in patient-provider communication lower patient self-efficacy and usage of preventive services. This training can help eliminate that.”
A Certified Autism Center provides a patient-friendly environment that includes:
• no sensory overload
• quiet rooms
treatment that is minimally disruptive to the patient
• communication with family members regarding diagnosis and treatment
• a focus on “yes” or “no” questions to patient
• allowing patients to see and touch materials
• a health care professional manner that is direct and factual
IBCCES was formed in 2001 and is the leading credentialing organization for professionals in the field of Autism. IBCCES currently offers the Certified Autism Specialist, Autism Certificate and the Certified Autism Center designations. Autism, commonly known as ASD, is a neurodevelopmental disorder with a wide range of symptoms and impairment levels. According to a 2010 study conducted by the Center for Disease Control, 1 in 68 children in the US have been diagnosed with ASD. It is five times more common among boys than girls.

We love watching the progress our child is making at Fox Therapy Center! We appreciate all their efforts so much!”
My child LOVES coming to see his therapists, both speech and occupational therapy! That helps me with his transitioning! Thank you!
“My daughter loves coming to speech. She cries when we have to miss speech!”
My daughter used to be shy because people couldn’t understand her, but now after getting speech therapy her confidence has grown. Now she isn’t afraid to talk to anyone!
"Everyone has told me how much easier it is to understand him. He used to get so frustrated.”
“She used to be really frustrated when we couldn’t understand her. She’s doing much better now.”
“It has been a pleasure to see you work so hard with my daughter. She really loves you and gets excited when she has an appointment!”
When we came to Fox Therapy Center, my little boy only had vowel sounds to represent words, but no consonants. I was grief-stricken by his diagnosis and pondered what kind of outcome he would have. The speech therapist encouraged and helped both of us through the entire therapy process. Today, he speaks intelligibly in sentences! I cannot even think of Fox Therapy Center without emotion overwhelming my heart with gratitude.
Thank you so much for all that you are doing for my son. Your care and concern for the children that you work with is clear, and your kind and gentle spirit shines through. I am so grateful for all of the tips you have given me to help improve my son's communication at home!
Thank you so much for all your hard word with our son! You are a true blessing to him and our family!
